I also gave a lecture at the Grosse Pointe Art Center on Friday Feb. 26:

Grosse Pointe Art Center Lecture

As part of the current Urban Edge exhibition at the Grosse Pointe Art
Center, you are invited to spend an evening at the Center featuring a
presentation by Taurus Burns, juror of the show. As an acclaimed painter,
Taurus will talk about his artistic development and the path his career has
taken since moving to Detroit. Living and working in Detroit since 1998,
Taurus Burns “makes paintings that challenge cultural and
notions of identity and acceptance.”
Taurus Burns is not on the “edge” - he is front and center and
we invite you to join the members of the Grosse Pointe Artists Association
for this illuminating lecture on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 7 pm.

@Washtenaw Community College

April 29, 2008

Before moving to Detroit in 1998, I attended Washtenaw Community College for 1-1/2 years. While I was there I studied under the artist Jon Lockard, who had a profound effect on my artistic development and inspired me to pursue a career as an artist. I went back to visit his Life Drawing class and while giving a presentation of my work I talked about the ideas and processes I use to create my paintings, the changes my art has gone through over the past 10 years, and my experiences as a working artist in Detroit.
